Banquet Hall in Oakville Ontario by Pierre Urban Architects Inc

Project Description

Pierre Urban Architects has been retained to design this new building that will house a new banquet hall for approx. 400-500 people in this commercial area in Oakville. The Client wanted to make this bulging a landmark in this area. There are other high quality buildings around this location and we aimed to make the design stand out with bold architectural elements such as the striking “U” shape canopy that serves as both a shelter at the entrance of the building and creates a large terrace for the second floor. The building is located closer to the street and parking is all hidden behind the building which is a more desirable urban design solution. The lot is very narrow but Lima’s design was able to utilize the site very efficiently. As a result of both the good site planning and quality of exterior design, we were able to obtain the Town’s support for this project.

Project Description

This building is located at a busy intersection on a corner lot in Hamilton, ON. The design needed to make a bold statement and have a pleasing curb appeal in order for us to obtain the support from the City’s planning staff. The concept follows the modern urban design guidelines with the building mass closer to the public sidewalks encouraging pedestrian circulation and the parking located at the rear and screened by the building itself. The building massing is “light” with large glazed areas and simple shapes formed by light composite aluminum panels and well defined lines.

The scope of this project was to complete renovate this office building located in Oakville. The Client wanted to modernize the space with a bold and elegant interior design. The renovations will happen throughout with special attention to the reception area and main accessible washroom located at the entrance lobby. The old stair case will be re-cladded with stain steel and a new glass raining will be introduced to make the stair case the focal point of the main entrance. The washroom is being completely guttered and new finishes and architectural elements introduced for striking first impression.

Contemporary re-build and addition to an existing side split house in Burlington. We used a combination of stone and architectural wood looking cement panels as accent to “break” the stucco walls. The elongated canopy ties in the 3 car garage to the house and gives it a striking horizontal line.
